Coalition Goals:

The goals of the Coalition are in alignment with National goals for education. No Child Left Behind (NCLB), signed into law January 8, 2002, has as its overall purpose to ensure that each child in America is able to meet the high learning standards of the state where he or she lives.  one of its specific goals, as spelled out in the Federal Register issued on March 6, 2002, is “All students will be educated in learning environments that are safe, drug free and conducive to learning.”

1. Goal Statement 1: The Coalition will provide the Clay County School System with the resources necessary to introduce prevention in all grades.
2. Goal Statement 2: The Coalition will establish resources and assistance in Clay County for prevention,
intervention and treatment.
3. Goal Statement 3: The Coalition will provide parent and citizen education on alcohol, tobacco and drug abuse.
4. Goal Statement 4: The Coalition will assist churches and other non-profit organizations in neighboring communities on how to establish coalitions to promote safe and drug-free communities.

Goal Statement 2: The Coalition will establish resources and assistance in Clay County for prevention, intervention and treatment.

Objective 2.1: A resource center will provide free literature and other print resources to increase public awareness of prevention, intervention and treatment.

Objective 2.2: A help line will direct callers to resources for prevention, intervention and treatment.

Objective 2.3: The Coalition will increase the access for referrals for drug treatment by funding the position of a counselor for Christian Love Ministries.

Objective  2.4: A school resource officer, an employee of the Clay County Sheriff’s Department shall work full time in the clay county school system.

Objective 2.5: The Clay County School System shall be declared a “Tobacco-Free School Zone.”

Objective 2.6: The Clay County School System shall be declared a “Drug-Free School Zone.”

Objective 2.7: Local media will be utilized to disseminate information on prevention, intervention and treatment.

Objective 2.8: Training will be provided to churches and other non-profit organizations in Clay County to help promote a safe and drug-free community.
